2007 Legislative Alert
Posted 2/17/2007
KHEA has prepared this bulletin for your information and immediate action.
KHEA believes that all of our members need to know when the Legislature is considering dangerous legislation. Well, they are. We believe that all homeschoolers should understand the influences driving our legislature and the bills they attempt to pass into law. It is not enough just to call your legislator. You need to understand the big picture of what is going on in our state. You need to understand why these bills are introduced and the impact they will have on you and your children.
Attention:
If you are...
- planning to withdraw your child from public school at any time other than at a semester break (ie. winter vacation or summer vacation) and enroll them in a home school program, OR
- If your child(ren) is/are withdrawing from public school while disciplinary action was being contemplated or begun at the school, (an example of disciplinary actions the school may have begun would be truancy, expulsion, etc.), OR
- If an agency concerned with child welfare (juvenile court, Department of Social Services, etc.) has made a formal request to determine if your child(ren) is/are in school,
then you need to make a careful note of the information and suggestions found in our "Best Practices Document." (PDF version)
